Concurrent remote Codex sessions cannot safely rotate one copied ChatGPT refresh token. This adds a dedicated Sign in with ChatGPT flow and a manager-owned refresh broker so one developer's Sandboxes and workers share a login without receiving its upstream refresh token.
The app signs in through the installed Codex CLI using a private temporary cache, displays only the device code, and sends the cache in the existing owner-signed encrypted enrollment. Cancellation stops the CLI process tree and removes the cache. Completed sign-ins remain bound to the requesting Buzz identity and community until enrollment or discard.
Boundary
Behavior
Manager-only secret
Stores real tokens, active/pending enrollment, and refresh state
Consistent metadata journal
Conditionally publishes exact immutable secret versions; never follows a stale AWSCURRENT
Private TLS endpoint
Serializes refreshes and coalesces stale versions; returns short-lived tokens and a versioned broker credential
Agent bootstrap
Checks the grant before starting an interactive or worker harness; configures the pinned native client's refresh override
Disconnect
Revokes future refreshes and fresh starts, including stale profiles; issued upstream access tokens expire independently
A durable Refreshing marker precedes upstream rotation. An uncertain or interrupted refresh requires a new sign-in instead of retrying a potentially consumed token. Enrollment activates a staged login after the profile write, preserving the active login when that write fails. The manager remains a singleton with Recreate.
Validation:
123 reaper tests pass, including concurrent rotation, restart/cancellation, stale/uncommitted writes, a lost journal response after an applied conditional update, a refresh that waits for a permit during a bootstrap burst, enrollment failure, revocation, request bounds, and redacted errors. Scoped reaper Clippy passes with warnings denied.
The full native app suite passes locally with voltage-sandbox: 1,069 passed and 2 ignored, plus 17 identity tests. Coverage includes process-tree cancellation, cache cleanup, scope binding, and encrypted enrollment. Native Clippy passes with warnings denied.
All 141 Node plugin tests, TypeScript checks, and plugin builds pass. The existing reminder fixture now replays one due timestamp consistently across duplicate deliveries.
Five packaged agent tests pass against a local private TLS issuer. Packaged Codex 0.159.3 refreshes, persists the broker credential, and sends it on its next refresh. Tests use synthetic credentials and no external network.
Root/GPUI fmt, the file-size gate, and workflow lint pass. Root workspace Clippy and desktop static checks passed in just ci; the command stopped at local Tauri Clippy because glib-2.0 development metadata is missing.
CI now explicitly checks the Voltage feature on Linux, macOS, and Windows and runs the native Voltage tests. Fresh checks are running for the updated revision. A pre-existing default-feature Codex timing test passed in the full local rerun.
Companions: Terraform #1007, CD #661. The chart defaults off. Apply reviewed infrastructure, publish both images, and pin the new agent digest for both interactive sessions and workers before enabling/enrolling. The rollout and recovery guide records the exact sequence and rollback constraints.
Deployment acceptance remains outstanding: exercise sign-in, cancel, discard, enroll, replace, and disconnect in the Voltage app; then run five concurrent Sandboxes plus workers with one real login across 24 hours, including restarts and session replacement at the existing 12-hour deadline. Verify refreshes without 401/re-login loops and fresh-start refusal after revocation. No live broker deployment or real-account sign-in has been performed.
Added a shared ChatGPT sign-in option for remote workspaces, with controls to connect, cancel, keep, or disconnect the login during enrollment.
Sign-in uses a device code, and the login is tied to the selected identity and community.
Remote agent sessions can refresh ChatGPT credentials through a managed broker. Sessions won’t start if credentials are invalid or the broker is unavailable.
Enrollment displays ChatGPT login status and clears conflicting API key or access-token credentials when a shared login is supplied.
Documentation
Added guidance for setting up and managing shared ChatGPT login, including credential handling, rollout, and recovery.
This change adds a shared ChatGPT login flow. The desktop app collects and enrolls credentials through an encrypted request. The manager stores and refreshes upstream credentials through a TLS broker. Agent bootstrap obtains brokered tokens and configures Codex authentication.

Retry the final write after a successful upstream rotation before you give up.
On Line 363, self.oauth.refresh returns a new upstream token bundle. At that point the old upstream refresh token is used up, and the new bundle exists only in memory. On Line 368, self.write runs once. One temporary put or advance failure (Error::Storage) returns the error, and the in-memory tokens are lost. The durable record stays State::Refreshing, so every later request returns Error::Interrupted. The test a_lost_write_after_rotation_leaves_a_durable_marker_across_manager_restart confirms this.
In this state the new tokens are known to be valid. A bounded retry while the lock is still held would save the login in most temporary failures:
write only sets record.revision on success, so a retry uses the same expected revision.
The head() check inside write already covers a retry after an update that was applied but whose response was lost.
Keep the attempts inside the request budget. For example, use 3 attempts with a short backoff.

Run broker.refresh in a separate task so a dropped request cannot interrupt the upstream rotation.
The handler awaits broker.refresh inline. Two events drop the handler future:
The TimeoutLayer timeout of 90 s fires.
The HTTP client disconnects. Hyper then drops the in-flight service future.
If the drop happens after the Refreshing marker is written and while oauth.refresh is running, the rotation is cancelled. The test cancellation_during_upstream_io_cannot_reuse_a_possibly_consumed_token shows the result: every later request returns Error::Interrupted, and the developer must sign in again.
This can happen in practice:
The worst-case wait is 30 s for a permit (PERMIT_WAIT), up to 30 s for the lock (LOCK_TIMEOUT), the storage writes (the DynamoDB operation timeout is 25 s), and 15 s for OAuth. That total can exceed 90 s.
A Codex client or bootstrap timeout shorter than the handler's latency also drops the request.
Fix: spawn the refresh so the critical section finishes even when the request goes away. The client then retries with its previous versioned credential and receives the already-refreshed bundle.
